“Principally, this was a chance to note the passing of the great Karlheinz Stockhausen and we were also reminded of the German composer's stature (and sense of humour) when Anna McGregor delivered his 1977 clarinet solo In Freundschaft. Following the piece's profuse instructions, governing every sound and gesture, McGregor gave a winning theatrical turn, with virtuoso playing as a bonus.”

Having completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the University of Auckland in 2008, Anna promotes her interest in new music through the performance of 20th/21st century and New Zealand Repertoire. A keen collaborator, she has been involved in the composition and premiere of many new works including pieces for Bb/Eb clarinet, bass clarinet, clarinet quartet and mixed instrument septet (founder of the University of Auckland Music Project Ensemble 2007).

In addition to this, Anna has featured with the Karlheinz Company as a soloist and chamber musician, as a member of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and as a performer/recording artist at the Nelson Composers' Workshop. Anna recently competed overseas as a touring member of the New Zealand Youth Choir, and is a current member of the 2008-2009 New Zealand National Youth Orchestra.
