Amanda Slater
Caprice Arts Trust - Flautist
Amanda has been playing flute since the age of 8. She completed her ATCL in 2003 and went on to study with Kirstin Eade and Ingrid Culliford at the New Zealand School of Music. She has played with a number of orchestras, including the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orchestra, the Wellington Youth Orchestra and the Chiesa Ensemble.
She has also been a member of the Gatese7en Contemporary Ensemble since 2003, an association that fuelled her interest in performing new music. In 2006 Amanda performed Anthony Ritchie’s Flute Concerto with the New Plymouth Orchestra.
Amanda hopes to continue post-graduate study overseas eventually, but in the meantime has been enjoying working, teaching and finding time to become reacquainted with her bass guitar!
Angela Mote-Andrew
Caprice Arts Trust - Flutist, Saxophinist
Angela Mote is a graduate of the former Wellington Conservatorium of Music on classical flute and is a registered teacher. For the past ten years Angela has been working for Hagley Community College (Christchurch) as an itinerant teacher of music (flute, saxophone, clarinet, jazz and classical ensembles). Although her teaching background is primarily at high school level, Angela has a strong interest in introducing primary aged children to music and capturing their innate ability and enthusiasm for music.
Anton Killin
Musician, Composer
Anton Killin is a musician, composer and teacher residing in Wellington. In 2007 he finished his BMus in music composition at the New Zealand School of Music and a BA in philosophy at Victoria University. He is involved in several bands, contemporary ensembles, and gamelan orchestras. He is currently finishing an Honours Degree in music composition, electroacoustic composition, and ethnomusicology at the New Zealand School of Music.
Antonia Barnett-McIntosh
Composer
Antonia studied composition at Victoria University of Wellington and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a BA in History. Since then she has lived in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London and travelled around Europe, South America and Egypt. Although exploring other cultures and ideas has been her main focus recently, Antonia has made the most of opportunities to travel to music festivals and workshops in Europe.
Bellatrix Recorder Quartet
Bellatrix Recorder Quartet is The Sydney Conservatorium’s premier recorder quartet comprising of graduate students Alana Blackburn, Laura Bell, and Alicia Crossley and 2008 guest artist and current Conservatorium student Joanne Arnott.
These talented musicians perform a range of works, from traditional renaissance and baroque pieces to contemporary jazz. They are also strong advocates of Contemporary Australian music, and have numerous projects with local composers, currently underway. Over the years, Bellatrix has performed at Mosman Music Club, Lane Cove Music Club, McArthur Music Club, Robertson Music Club, and toured to Queensland to perform at schools and in concerts, sponsored by the Sydney Conservatorium and Yamaha Music Australia.
Buz Bryant-Greene
Caprice Arts Trust Foundation Artist - Pianist
Buz was raised in Nelson and attended the Nelson School of Music for early musical tuition. He acquired a DipABRSM (2001) and LRSM (2005) before winning the Kapiti Coast Piano Competition 2005, 1st prize. Buz completed a Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the the New Zealand School of Music where he studied under Diedre Irons and Richard Mapp. Recitals performed in USA and Europe, and across New Zealand, including several concerto appearances.
David Neild
Caprice Arts Trust Foundation Artist - Pianist
David Neild graduated from the New Zealand School of Music, where he studied with Richard Mapp. In 2006 he spent a semester at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro on an exchange programme, studying with Dr di Piazza. There he played with lots of doubles bass students and got to know the entire double bass repertoire, which he loves. After graduating David has worked mainly with singers, accompanying in recitals and vocal competitions and in a masterclass taken by Malcom Martineau.
Dylan Lardelli
Composer, Guitarist
Born in Wellington New Zealand, Dylan Lardelli holds a Bachelors Degree in Guitar Performance and a Masters Degree in Composition (with distinction) from Victoria University (Wellington, New Zealand).
Dylan Lardelli has been the recipient of many scholarships and awards including the award of first place with his piece “Four Fragments” in the Asian Composers League Young Composers’ Competition in Tokyo in 2003. He was also the first recipient of the Edwin Carr foundation scholarship which will enable him to undertake composition studies in Europe. During 2003 and 2004, Dylan held the position of composer-in-residence with the Auckland Philharmonia. He also participated in the Acanthes workshop with Peter Eotvos and the Royaumont course with Brian Ferneyhough.
Felicity Smith
Mezzo-Soprano
Felicity is a graduate of Victoria University and the New Zealand School of Music in Composition, Vocal Performance and, most recently, a Master of Music in Musicology. Over the past two years Felicity has divided her time between New Zealand, France, and Germany, where she has performed in masterclasses and festivals, and undertaken vocal training and musicological research. Next year Felicity hopes to pursue further vocal studies in Germany.
Fuminori Watanabe
Caprice Arts Trust - Guitarist
Fuminori graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree from the Massey University Conservatorium of Music in Wellington, New Zealand, where he studied with Matthew Marshall and Gunter Herbig.
He has been playing classical guitar since he was eight years old, and was inspired by Bach's works played on the guitar to seriously take up the instrument. Fuminori entered the Conservatorium after being awarded the Beven Cup for 'Musicianship' in the final year of High School, and winning a couple of chamber music competitions in the previous year.
