Programme: Programme Notes

Altotude Saxaphone Quartet will perform compositions written over the last 100 years especially for saxophone quartets, as well as original compositions and arrangements by members of this quartet. Much of the new music for saxophone quartet includes jazz as well as classical and popular music. In the history of western music the saxophone quartet is a relatively new creation. Because the tones of the four saxophones, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone, are all produced the same way, the blend of the saxophones is very unique.

W C Handy (arranged Bill Holcombe) St Louis Blues
  Paul Pierné Trois Conversations
George Gershwin (arranged Gerry Cappuccio) Prelude
George Gershwin An American in Paris
  Tschaikovsky (transcribed Marcel Mule) Andante
