Amanda Slater
Caprice Arts Trust - Flautist
Amanda has been playing flute since the age of 8. She completed her ATCL in 2003 and went on to study with Kirstin Eade and Ingrid Culliford at the New Zealand School of Music. She has played with a number of orchestras, including the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orchestra, the Wellington Youth Orchestra and the Chiesa Ensemble.
She has also been a member of the Gatese7en Contemporary Ensemble since 2003, an association that fuelled her interest in performing new music. In 2006 Amanda performed Anthony Ritchie’s Flute Concerto with the New Plymouth Orchestra.
Amanda hopes to continue post-graduate study overseas eventually, but in the meantime has been enjoying working, teaching and finding time to become reacquainted with her bass guitar!
